Established in 1984, Vendicari is one of Europe’s most significant wetlands, recognized internationally for its biodiversity. Each year, hundreds of migratory bird species, from herons to flamingos, pause here on their journeys between Europe and Africa. But this sanctuary is not only for birdwatchers, it’s one of the last places where the Mediterranean scrubland flourishes in its natural purity.
Cala Mosche, a hidden bay nestled between rocky cliffs, offers pristine swimming that rivals Caribbean waters. Alongside it, the beaches of Eloro, Marianelli, and San Lorenzo unfold as stretches of fine sand and turquoise sea.
Just 14 km north lies Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002. Together with Modica, Scicli, and other towns of the Val di Noto, it forms a cultural constellation of palaces, churches, and piazzas that come alive each summer with open-air concerts, art festivals, and theatrical performances.
